Just a over view of the main beliefs that we hold true to.
Salvation:
In order to recieve salvation and make it to heaven. There are three things that need to be done. John 3:5 states 2 of those three. The first is you have to be baptized. The way we are shown in the Bible is to be baptized by full submerging of the water. Many people choose to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. But no where do we see people being baptized by that name. Becuase that is not a name. The name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost is Jesus. Acts 2:38 shows us by which name to be baptized, and repent. Repentence the second step of salvation. Jesus told us that we are to die daily to our sins. If you do not repent you can not enter into the kingdom of God. The Third step in this is that we are to be born of the Spirit. Which in the teachings we see in Acts the 2nd Chapter, we see that it is through the Gift of the Holy Ghost. As well in Acts 2:38 we find that this is not something for only those in the times of Jesus, but that it is a promise to as many as the Lord God shall call. All in all there is only three things that we need to do to acheive salvation.
Holiness:
Even though that is all that we have to do. We still have to refrain from sinning as much as possibly. You are not suppose to sin then repent, sin then repent. Because if you keep doing the same sin, then you are not truly sorry that you commited it. There are many things in the Bible that we are told are sins and not suppose to do. Most of these are common sense of right and wrong. Some are not. Most people do not know that it speaks against women cutting there hair, as well as men having long hair. Nor do many people know that women are not suppose to wear mens clothing. Nor man to wear womens clothing. There is alot of debate over what is considered mens and womens clothing. But go back just a hundred years, when Christians where what they knew was right, and there werent denominations that just ignore and changed what is wrong and right. But go back a hundred years and did women wear pants? Or did men wear dresses? If you where a Christian you knew by what was right, that dresses where the womens dress, and pants are the mens dress. As far as jewlery goes. We are told not to adorn ourselves with gold, silver, and other costly array. Which earings, and necklaces, and those things are either made of one of those, or made to look like one of those. All in all we are to be seperate from this world, but still live in it. There are alot of things that change when you come to God. You are no longer who you where. You are new, a new start, a new life, but this time you are in a loving church, with a loving forgiving God.
Other:
There are some other things that are spoken against. Most oneness Pentecostals will speak out against drinking any alcohol, or smoking, drugs, peircings, tatoos, self harm, suicide, lust, sex before marrige, abortion, and television.
Drinking: We speak out against drinking because we are taught that drunkards will not enter into Heaven. After one drink, or one sip, you might be drunk. And if God came right then, you wouldnt make it.
Smoking, drugs: ( I am still gathering the information needed for this topic. I am sorry for the delay, and will have the information on as soon as possibly.)
Peircings, Tatoos, Self harm, Suicide: We speak out about these because, our body is our personal temple of God. He dwells in us, and our body is his. He made us, we belong to him. We do not take a cd from a friend. and break it and give it back. We take care of the cd, and return it in the same condition if not better then we recieved it. The same is with our body. We are not to deface the property of God. Nor make holes in it, or destroy it by, cutting, or beating, or snapping. Suicide is, you could say a unforgivable sin. Killing is a sin. Killing yourself would be no different.
Abortion: Abortion is another topic common in todays world. It is a sin. Plain and simple, no sugar or spice to make it seem nice. It is a sin. You are killing a life form. true at certain stages of development the baby might not be medicaly considered as living. But in a few months it would be. Just becuase it isnt alive at this minute but would be in a month or so. Doesnt mean it isnt killing. Abortion is the killing of a human child sent from God. Every life is a gift from God.
Lust and sex before marrige: Lust of the flesh. Lust of the flesh is a sin. We are to with hold from lust. Lust could be an affair, or lust of the eyes, or even thinking about sex if you are not married is a sin. And a single sin will keep you from heaven. Sex before marrige is also a sin, we are taught in the Bible that we are not to have sex before wed lock. As well as if you are married you are not suppose to get a divorce unless your partner was in a affair, or that your partner passed on.
Television: Television is spoken out against for a few reasons. Over all television might not be a bad concept. But alot of the things that are shown on it, and advertised on it, are sins. Drinking, smoking, sex, all things like that are sins. We are taught to stay away from things that might tempt, or lead us on to a sin. Television is one of those things. So we choose to stay away from those.
